Yong-en Health Services

Responding to the needs of the elderly in Chinatown and beyond, this service encompasses a preventive medical and health care programme for elderly individuals. The programme includes basic regular medical screenings, monitoring personal hygiene and medication, centre-based physiotherapy supervised by trained nursing personnel and referral services. This is currently conducted on Tuesday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. at the centre and on Saturdays from 4 to 6 p.m. during home visitations to the elderly in Chinatown.

Using a holistic approach, Yong-en seeks to look after the emotional health of the elderly through social programmes which offer creative, educational and recreational activities for the elderly. Such programmes are hi-tea, art and craft games, karaoke and cooking demonstartions. Outdoor activities would include visits to places of interest. This programme is carried out on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 5 p.m.
